About the Artist

Lofty Rose is a multidisciplinary artist, creative director, and the founder of Lofty Pursuits, a creative studio rooted in storytelling, collaboration, and community. She express through a variety of mediums including media arts, visual arts, music production, writing, and performance. Her practice explores the tension between vulnerability and resilience, intimacy and distance, light and shadow.

Based in Pittsburgh, Rose creates work that is deeply informed by human connection and the communities that shape her. Her art frequently engages themes of mental health, Black culture, queer identity, and collective wellness, using imagery and narrative as a way to uncover hidden stories and create space for reflection.

Her photographic work carries an editorial sensibility, often utilizing dramatic light, rich color, and shadow as metaphors for emotional depth and transformation. Drawn to dark spaces and subtle moments, she uses light as a language of revelation, illuminating what is often unseen, overlooked, or unspoken. Across mediums, her creative process is an ongoing search for meaning and emotional honesty.

Through Lofty Pursuits, Rose collaborates with individuals, artists, and grassroots organizations to build visual narratives that feel authentic, intentional, and community-centered. Ultimately, her work is grounded in the belief that art can foster connection, preserve stories, and offer new ways of seeing ourselves, others and the world we have created.
