Artists in Motion Workshop Summary
Artists in Motion is a space for artists to slow down, process, and give attention to the ideas that are still taking shape. Rather than focusing on polished work or final results, the workshop invites artists to explore their ideas while they are still messy, unfinished, and full of possibility.
Artists of all experience levels are welcome, whether you are developing your first creative project or sitting on a million ideas and struggling to figure out where to begin. There are few spaces where we get to connect with artists during the planning process, and Artists in Motion is intentionally designed to make room for that often-unseen part of creative work.
Through conversation, reflection, and hands-on activities, participants will have the opportunity to move their ideas forward while connecting with other artists doing the same. Light refreshments will be provided, and each workshop will have 20 spots available to keep the space intimate and participatory. Artists in Motion will be offered as a recurring workshop in multiple locations, with upcoming locations to be announced.
Previous Engagements
Westinghouse Residency
In 2026, Lofty Rose served as an artist-in-residence at Pittsburgh Westinghouse, developing and teaching a multidisciplinary arts curriculum for high school students across all grade levels. Through painting, collage, and ceramic art, students explored embodiment as a practice of connecting with their bodies, emotions, and creative expression. The residency encouraged students to engage with art as a tool for self-discovery, reflection, and embodied learning.
Free Portrait Day
During First Friday’s Bloomfield Art Crawl, Lofty Rose hosted a free portrait day, offering anyone who passed by the opportunity to have their portrait taken at no cost. Portraiture can be a powerful form of reflection, yet many people rarely have the opportunity to see themselves represented with intention, clarity, and dignity. This event created a small but meaningful space for people to see themselves as worthy of being documented, celebrated, and remembered. Through photography, Lofty Rose continues to explore what it means to give people the opportunity to see a piece of themselves.
The Great Holiday Giveaway
The Great Holiday Giveaway brought together Lofty Rose and a team of volunteers to provide Homewood (PA) families with free essential goods and basic necessities during the holiday season. While creativity and artistic expression are central to the vision of Lofty Pursuits, we believe creative freedom begins with having our basic needs met. By helping create greater stability, dignity, and access to essential resources, we create more room for people to rest, heal, imagine, and create. This work reflects Lofty Pursuits’ commitment to supporting the whole person, not just the artist.
